Written Question
Large Goods Vehicles: Rural Areas
Monday 13th July 2015

Asked by: William Cash (Conservative - Stone)

Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, for what reasons provisions in part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 on vehicle weight restrictions in rural areas have not yet been implemented; and when he expects those provisions to be implemented.

Answered by Andrew Jones

The Police already have the necessary power to take action where it is needed, and there are no plans at present to give local authorities greater powers to enforce weight limit-related or other moving traffic contraventions.
