The Secretary of State should ‘call in’ the planning decision and stop the development going ahead.
Planning applications can be intercepted and determined solely by the Secretary of State. This is an exceptional circumstance, not only because of the damage it will cause to the bog, it will also place more strain on local services, infrastructure and, dare I say it, ignores the democratic wishes of both the local citizens and David Attenborough.
