Require all broadband providers to support a common router standard

Each time you change broadband provider they will send you a new router. Some will say they won't support you unless you use their hardware. This is very wasteful.

The government should require all providers to enable any router to be used, other than where specific technology is needed, such as fibre optics.

Each router manufactured increases co2 emissions in the creation, transportation, disposal, and recycling. Forcing companies to agree a standard will reduce the unnecessary production of millions of units.
