Review the brightness of car headlights for safety - 13,626 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 14,271 - 8 added in the past 24hrs)

The Government should launch a review into the problem of some headlights causing oncoming traffic drivers to be unable to see clearly and safely. The review should be conducted with car manufacturers to find solutions.

The Government responsed to this petition on 27th March 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has taken action internationally to address concerns raised about headlamp glare. Recognising the need for further evidence, we intend to commission independent research shortly.

(Estimated Final Signatures: 14,229 - 85 added in the past 24hrs)

Several health care workers who arrived in UK are left without jobs as their sponsors are unable to provide them with one or that there wasn't a job available for them when they arrived. Some firms lose their licence to sponsor due to their own mistakes.

For the United Kingdom to recognise the state of Palestine immediately - 12,338 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,214 - 14 added in the past 24hrs)

We believe that the Government needs to recognise the state of Palestine immediately. Otherwise we don't think they can legitimately say they back a two-state solution.

The Government responsed to this petition on 27th February 2024 (View Full Response)
We must give Palestinians a credible political pathway and irreversible momentum towards the establishment of Palestine. We will recognise a Palestinian State when most conducive to the peace process.

Reduce Vehicle Tax for cars aged between 20 and 40 years old - 12,854 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,205 - 4 added in the past 24hrs)

Under the current rules a car does not become exempt from Vehicle Tax until it is at least 40 years old. There are vehicles within the 20 to 40 year age bracket that are well loved, modern classics and without a reduction in tax, we may see these vehicles disappear from our roads.

The Government responsed to this petition on 4th April 2024 (View Full Response)
The Government has no plans to reduce the tax exemption age for classic cars from 40 to 20 years. While the Government keeps all taxes under review, we consider 40 years a fair cut-off date.
Open Petition since 21st March 2024

Hamas should release all hostages now, unconditionally. We have been working with partners across the region to secure the release of hostages, including British nationals and their families.

Require broadcasters to call proscribed terrorist organisations terrorists - 13,071 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 13,098 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)

Terrorism legislation should be amended to require all broadcasters regulated by Ofcom to describe all terrorist organisations proscribed in the UK and their operatives as “terrorists” and not by any descriptor, such as “militants”, which does not make their terrorist nature clear.

The Government responsed to this petition on 18th April 2024 (View Full Response)
Ofcom rules ensure broadcast news must be reported with due accuracy and impartiality. The Government is committed to a free media. It would not be right to dictate the language that journalists use.

We believe the MHRA should be reviewed. This should include its approval processes, its monitoring of safety of existing products, its transparency and accountability, and its mechanisms to ensure patient safety is prioritised over commercial interests.

Ban wind farm onshore asset development on green belt land - 2,732 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 12,746 - 58 added in the past 24hrs)

We want the Government to ban wind farm onshore asset development on green belt land. We don't think local authorities are enforcing the National Planning Policy Framework to protect the greenbelt from inappropriate development.
