To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to Note 3 on page 28 of the NAO report on the Equipment Plan 2022 to 2032, HC 907, published on 29 November, what assessment he has made of the effect of changes in the dollar exchange rate on the accuracy of the underlying assumptions of the affordability of the Equipment Plan 2022 to 2023.

The Department builds appropriate levels of contingency and risk into the Defence Budget and Equipment Plan. Risk of increased costs due to exchange rate changes are addressed as part of routine financial management of the Defence programme, including the use of forward purchase arrangements to mitigate this.
