Ambulance Services: Military Aid

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether it is her Department's policy that army personnel operating civilian ambulances in an emergency will be exempted from (a) stopping at red lights and (b) adhering to the speed limit.

Where deployed, military personnel are expected to observe normal traffic laws when driving ambulances. They have been fully trained to support the ambulance service and operate with ambulance staff, who are trained to drive under blue light conditions when necessary.
