Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what estimate he has made of the average length of time a person making an initial telephone inquiry making a claim for social security benefit spent on the telephone in the last 12 months.

The Department for Work and Pensions does not estimate the average length of time a person will spend on the telephone making an initial enquiry about a claim for a social security benefit. The data received from BT and outsource partners does not distinguish between first and subsequent calls.
