Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many unaccompanied minors have been placed in in the Slough Borough Council area by her Department or its agencies.

The Home Office has no power to hold asylum seekers in hotels or any temporary accommodation if they wish to leave. The Home Office does not publish a breakdown of statistics which disaggregates the number of adult asylum seekers leaving hotels. These figures are not available.

Using hotels to accommodate asylum seekers is not a long-term solution. Central to our focus is the impact on local communities, in sourcing specific sites, Accommodation Providers conduct a series of due diligence checks pre-mobilisation for use and must ensure that accommodation is statutorily and regulatory compliant.
