The Government has committed to increasing the number of available midwifery training places in England by more than 3,000 over a four year period. The increase in available places will start in the 2019 academic year, with an additional 650 training places made available, a 25% increase on the current available midwifery training places.

Training of midwives outside of England is a matter for each of the devolved administrations in that country.
