I [Mr Field] met Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Marapana on 18 April in the margins of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. We discussed the progress made by Sri Lanka against its international commitments, and I set out the British Government's view that there is much remaining to be done, and we have been disappointed by the pace of change.

The UK led a strong joint statement at the March 2018 UN Human Rights Council, calling on the Government of Sri Lanka to redouble its efforts to deliver the commitments it made to the Council in 2015 and 2017. This was delivered by our Permanent Representative to the Council in Geneva
