The number of prosecutions for fox hunting is not centrally held by the Ministry of Justice and would be at disproportionate cost to obtain. The reason for this is because the legislation does not differentiate the hunting of foxes from ‘the hunting of mammals’ therefore the figures provided are for all prosecutions under the Hunting Act 2004.

The number of defendants prosecuted under the Hunting Act 2004 in England and Wales, from 2005 to 2017, can be viewed in the attached table.
