Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what recent information she holds on the number and proportion of people who drop out of the application process for universal credit after (a) an initial attempt to make an online claim and (b) an initial appointment with Jobcentre Plus staff.

a) For Universal Credit Full Service claims made (declared) in November 2017 from internal analysis carried out in March 2018:

- 71% of claimants were paid.

- 29% were closed and not paid. This could be for a variety of reasons, including ineligibility.

b) For Universal Credit Full Service claims made (declared) in November 2017 from internal analysis carried out in March 2018:

- 8% were closed and not paid, having attended at least one interview.
