Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to the World Health Organisation’s SAGE Roadmap for prioritizing the use of COVID-19 vaccines in the context of limited supply, published on 13 November 2020, what discussions he has had with the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation on the prioritization of people who are homeless for the covid-19 vaccine; and if he will make a statement.

For the first phase, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation has advised that the vaccine be given to care home residents and staff, as well as frontline health and social care workers, then to the rest of the population over 50 years old in order of age. The first phase also includes those with certain clinical risk factors, which make them particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.

Anyone who is homeless and falls into these groups is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. We are working closely with partners to ensure they can access it. Local authorities should work with their local health partners to ensure individuals experiencing homelessness are able to access the vaccine by other means if mainstream provision is unsuitable.
