Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the need for NICE guidance for (a) Tourette’s Syndrome and (b) other tic disorders.

There are no current plans for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to develop a guideline on Tourette’s syndrome. NICE’s guideline on suspected neurological conditions includes the initial assessment of symptoms which may indicate a neurological condition and makes recommendations on tics and involuntary movement in children.
