It is local clinical commissioning groups that determine services to be commissioned to meet local needs. Dietitians work with people to promote nutritional wellbeing, prevent food-related problems and treat disease. NHS England has published ‘Commissioning Guidance for Rehabilitation’. Dietitians are included in the range of rehabilitation health professionals and a number of examples of good practice include dietetics. The guidance can be accessed at the following link:

In addition, the NHS England guidance ‘Commissioning Excellent Nutrition and Hydration (2015-2018)’ supports commissioners to develop strategies and address issues related to improvements in delivery and commissioning of nutrition and hydration needs in acute services and the community and role of dietitians.
