The Government is committed to ensuring all communities continue to have suitable access to the rail network. Officials constantly monitor the situation and are looking at ways to ensure connectivity is maintained by working with existing franchises and Open Access Operators to provide appropriate levels of services. In recent months this approach has seen various Train Operating Companies augment their services to ensure continued access to the local community when some Open Access Operators were in periods of hibernation.
