Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what proportion of police officers in Merseyside police have served in frontline roles in each year since 2010.

The Home Office collects and publishes data annually on the primary function of police officers, as part of the ‘Police workforce, England and Wales’ statistical bulletins.

Functions data are collected under the Police Objective Analysis (POA) framework. Officers with multiple responsibilities are recorded under their primary function. The number and proportion of officers employed in frontline policing roles can be calculated according to the frontline policing model set out by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
