Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if he will take steps to ensure that policing budgets maintain alignment with inflation year-on-year; and if he will make a statement.

Following the Government’s decision to protect police grant in cash terms and provide additional flexibility to raise precept, each PCC is seeing their direct resource funding protected in real terms in 2018-19. The Home Secretary has made clear that the police will be a priority for him at the next Spending Review, which will set budgets for the longer term.
