Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to the Answer of 4 September 2018 to Question 167999 on Social Mobility Commission: public appointments, how many applications have been received; and whether shortlisting has taken place for the recruitment of new commissioners to the Social Mobility Commission.

The recruitment process for new Social Mobility Commission Commissioners is ongoing in line with the procedures set out in the Governance Code for Public Appointments and according to the timelines originally set out in the advertisement for the roles. We received 306 applications for the roles.
