On 5 June, the Department of Health and Social Care published the Carers Action Plan, which sets out a cross-government programme of targeted work to support carers over the next two years. The Action Plan has a particular focus on supporting young carers and contains a series of actions to achieve this.

Through this, the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Education committed to working together to review best practice in the identification of young carers and their access to support. Through this we will be considering the role that a variety of agencies have in identifying young carers. We have committed to completing the review by Easter 2019.
