Information about the total calls offered to the Department’s benefit telephone lines for the 18 month period May 2017 to October 2018 for which data is available has been published in the House of Commons Library.

The total number of calls across the Department have remained at a consistent level since May 2017. During this period we have rolled out Universal Credit, the Universal Credit caseload has risen to over 1.3 million, and we have been receiving calls from Universal Credit claimants that would previously have gone to HMRC or Local Authorities.
