In September 2022 we increased most legal aid fee schemes by 15%, including the police station scheme and the magistrates’ court scheme, which includes youth court work.

We are investing a further £16m into the police station scheme over 2024-25, and a further £5m (in steady state) towards the Youth Court reforms.

Our full set of proposals will mean we expect to invest up to an additional £141m per year.
