Charging for car parking is a commercial decision for train operating companies and Network Rail, and the train operating companies are responsible for making decisions on station car park charges and payment methods at the stations they manage. The Department expects train operators to consider the needs of their passengers and views of local partners on these issues, and to consider the equalities impacts of operational changes.
