The Home Office does not make any money from calls to the 101 Single Non-Emergency Number, nor do police forces. The 15 pence call charge goes directly to telecom service providers and covers the cost of handling calls and routing them to their destination. Calls to 101 cost 15 pence from mobile devices and landlines, regardless of duration, but are free from payphones.
