Care Leavers and Children in Care: Supported Housing

Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many looked after children and care leavers aged 16 to 18 years old were living independently in supported accommodation or otherwise in each of the last 10 years by local authority.

​​The number of looked-after children and the number of care leavers in supported or semi-supported accommodation including independent living (with or without formalised support) since 2009 for each local authority is shown in the attached table. Information on 17 to 18-year-old care leavers is provided for 2016 onwards. Information for earlier years is not held centrally. It is not possible to distinguish between independent and supported placements/accommodation and these have been combined in the table.
