Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, pursuant to the Answer of 20 March 2019 to Question 231466 on Hospitals: Infectious Diseases, whether work of Public Health England will also include as assessment of the effect of changes to ophthalmic surgical practice on trends in the level of risk of infection rates in hospitals.

Public Health England does not currently include ophthalmic surgery as part of mandatory or voluntary surveillance of surgical site infections.
