HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has not rejected any valid claims for refunds. In order to assess validity, HMCTS checks whether another party has claimed, whether the claimant has already been paid and whether the claimant is entitled to a refund. In these circumstances HMCTS would invite the claimant to submit a fresh claim which addresses concerns identified rather than reject outright. We do not hold statistics on the number of claims dealt with in this way and the information could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
