The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, which is independent of both central and local government, investigates complaints by individuals about local public services and all registerable social care providers throughout England, and can make recommendations for redress. Ministers meet the Ombudsman from time to time, and discuss a range of matters relating to the work of the organisation.
