Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to NHS diagnostic tests for covid-19, what tests have been used; which tests are no longer in use; and for what reasons those tests have been replaced or discontinued.

A large number of different tests have been used throughout the programme. As the programme matured from emergency set up phase, and technology was adopted and implemented to massively increase speed and scale, some test types gave way to newer ones as they were not suited to the specifications of a larger scale system.
