The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) is already operational. The Immigration Act 2016 has extended the GLAA’s remit; new powers under the national minimum wage and employment agencies legislation commenced on 25 November 2016.

New police-style powers under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984 are expected to come into force in 2017. It is for the Authority to determine the number of staff to be employed within the available resources.
