Question to the HM Treasury:
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, whether he has carried out an equality impact assessment of the 10 June 2020 cut-off date for accessing the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme in relation to women currently on maternity leave; and if he will make a statement.
HM Treasury carefully considers the equality impacts of individual policies on those with protected characteristics, including gender, in line with both its legal obligations and its strong commitment to equality issues.
On 9 June, the Government announced that parents returning to work in the coming months, including women currently on maternity leave, will be eligible for furlough scheme even after 10 June cut-off date.
