Public authorities, including non-departmental public bodies, are subject to the Human Rights Act 1998 and are required to comply with the Act when carrying out public functions, such as in their policies.

The Department has no current plans to require its non-departmental public bodies to publish separate human rights policies. Those bodies must already consider relevant legislation as part of their functions.
