Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, if he has undertaken a national risk assessment of the sustainability and transformation plan process.

NHS England and NHS Improvement do not intend to undertake a national risk assessment of Sustainability and Transformation plan process. Local areas are in the best position to make an assessment on risk within their Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs).

All STPs are required to follow the four tests of service reconfiguration when making any substantial change to a footprint, including consulting with their local community when necessary, which helps to mitigate against any risk.
