Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what estimate he has made of the number of 18 to 21 year olds in (a) St Helens North constituency, (b) Merseyside and (c) the UK who will be affected by the recent Universal Credit (Housing Costs Element for claimants aged 18 to 21) (Amendment) Regulations 2017.

The Department estimates that, nationally, 5,000 people will be affected in the first year with 10,000 a year affected in steady state. No estimates have been made at more localised levels.
