The Equal Pay - Statutory Code of Practice (2010) states that while all employers should regularly review and monitor their pay practices, an audit is not a formal legal requirement. The only circumstances in which it becomes a legal requirement is if ordered to conduct one by an Employment Tribunal in the case of a breach.

However, as part of our annual pay remit, we evaluate every recommendation and assess these for intended and unintended consequences on every protected characteristic. In addition, our published pay scales are gender neutral and are applied to all employees with the same underlying criteria, as set out by published Civil Service pay guidance. We also publish an annual gender pay gap report.
