Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what proportion of new claims for (a) jobseeker's allowance and (b) employment and support allowance made in the last six months for which data is available, were processed within five working days.

The proportion of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) claims processed within 5 working days is shown below:

  • JSA = 26.2% (current target is 90% in 10 working days)
  • ESA = 48.3% (current target is 85% in 10 working days)

The period the data covers is from 1st October 2016 to 31st March 2017.
