NHS England advises that there is no fixed requirement regarding levels of bunkered diesel fuel reserves held by ambulance trusts. Local Resilience Forums have a statutory responsibility to put in place contingency plans, which include access to fuel. Ambulance trusts are required to work with Local Resilience Forums to determine these arrangements. While ambulance trusts do not forward purchase fuel, trusts buy fuel in bulk for bunkers and make arrangements with fuel card suppliers for discounted access at forecourts.
