Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, pursuant to the Answer of 27 October 2022 to Question 68531 on Retail Trade: Energy, if he will make an estimate of the average payment that will be made to eligible high street businesses through the Energy Bill Relief Scheme.
The Energy Bill Relief Scheme provides a discount on non-domestic energy bills for eligible customers, rather than providing a payment. The discount received is dependent on the type of contract a business was on when the contract was agreed, and the amount of energy consumed. This is calculated by each business’s energy supplier and applied automatically. It is therefore not possible to provide an average payment figure for high street businesses.
