The majority of people with neurological conditions are cared for through routine access to primary and secondary care. Integrated care boards (ICBs), which were established on 1 July 2022, are responsible for commissioning health services, including neurology and expenditure in its area. NHS England commissions the specialised elements of neurology care through 25 specialised neurological treatment centres in England for patients with more complex health needs. NHS England provides national leadership through the Neuroscience Transformation Programme.
