Pay self-employed for self-isolating due to corona virus

As you may know, self-employed people who have an income protection policy can only claim if they are off work for more than 30 days(backdated to day 1). The government should work with underwriters to secure exceptions for self-isolation due to corona virus, or it should pay these policies.

Even if they are entitled to Universal Credit, self-employed people are likely to be much worse off if they are unable to work. If government fail to act on this issue then many self-employed people will continue to work risking infecting many others with corona virus. Many self-employed people want to do the right thing but need to ensure food for the family is provided and bills are paid and if told to self-isolate they will be in effect having to take an unpaid holiday for 2 weeks.
