The large scale asylum site planned at RAF Scampton sits roughly 20 metres from the infant/primary school. We consider that the government has a duty to safeguard children’s welfare and so should make sure that people who have entered the country illegally are not placed near to schools. There have been reports of incidents involving asylum seekers and school children. We believe housing often large numbers of asylum seekers near to schools creates safeguarding issues that it is not possible to mitigate.
