The Police should use water cannons and tear gas at demonstrators and protest

Water cannons and tear gas are often used in conjunction with other crowd control methods, such as batons and shields. They can be especially effective at dispersing large crowds or crowds that are resisting arrest.

This petition was rejected on 9th Nov 2023 for not being a Government or Parliamentary matter

The Petition Committee commented:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. How to tackle illegal behaviour at protests is an operational matter for the police, not the UK Government or Parliament.

In 2019, police in Hong Kong used water cannons and tear gas to disperse pro-democracy protests.
