Require editing or creation of media using software to be recorded in metadata

We want a law that requires media creation or editing software to leave a record of editing or creating media, within said media's meta data, with a record of edit history. The altered media could still appear 100% real, but there would proof it's not on inspection.

We believe we're facing an epidemic of false information, that looks indeterminable from real information, and that there aren't sufficient laws to protect people from this modern threat.

In this world of deepfakes, media editing and ease of sharing on social media, a victim's reputation, career and personal life can be damaged and we are concerned that it is not possible to prove reality or deter anyone from doing this to another. Victims are already suffering devastating consequences.
