Hold a referendum on replacing First Past the Post with proportional voting

We call for a referendum with the question: “Should the UK replace First Past the Post with a system of Proportional Representation?” We think it should be held before the next scheduled General Election. If passed, we think the new system should be designed by a non-partisan expert panel.

We think First Past the Post distorts election results, excludes millions, and fuels the deepening distrust in our politics. In a rapidly changing world, we feel our system is not fit for the future. We believe a referendum is the only fair and democratic way to decide whether to replace it. If the public votes for change, an expert-led process could be the most effective and legitimate way to design a fair replacement in time for the next election and beyond.
