Create a rule that a Prime Minister can only be elected by a General Election

I believe that the electorate should determine who is Prime Minister not the Members of Parliament. For example Boris Johnson was elected by the public but ousted by the Members of Parliament without any public consultation.

This petition was rejected on 26th Aug 2025 for not petitioning for a specific action

The Petition Committee commented:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We are unsure if you mean only elected, or only elected and removed. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

The public feel disenfranchised with politics. We are asked to vote at general elections based on policies and individuals but the political parties then do not honour their manifestos. There is no accountability to manifesto pledges.
