Review Current Provision of Safe and Legal Routes for Asylum Seekers to the UK

We want a review of the current provision of safe and legal routes for asylum seekers to enter the UK. This should consider: a) a humanitarian visa to enable people to apply from overseas rather than having to cross the Channel on small boats. b) an expansion of the resettlement scheme.

The UK spends large sums every day on a system that we feel is not fit for purpose. There is a backlog of over 100,000 cases waiting to be heard by the First-Tier Tribunal, and average wait times are 53 weeks. We believe a review should examine the feasibility of introducing a humanitarian visa as an additional safe route into the UK. We think this could lead to reductions in running costs, with those granted refugee status able to work, pay taxes, contribute to economic growth sooner.
