Home education is a lawful and long-established choice used successfully by many families, including those with SEND or mental health needs. We believe existing safeguarding powers already address genuine concerns. We are concerned the bill risks increased monitoring and regulation that may unfairly treat home-educating families as a risk, places unnecessary burdens on parents, and may pressure children into unsuitable school settings. We ask for proportionate, evidence-based policy developed with families.
