Reverse the blanket ban on student visas for Myanmar nationals.

We demand the reversal of the ban on Myanmar student visas, as it is discriminatory and unnecessary. Instead, we support changes to the asylum system, or even a ban on asylum applications from Myanmar students, rather than a blanket ban that disproportionately affects all Myanmar students.

The Home Office claims this is due to a sixteen fold increase in asylum applications from Myanmar students since 2021; This directly correlates with the 2021 coup in Myanmar and the ongoing civil war, which means the number of asylum seekers is bound to increase. Myanmar is also not in the top 10 countries with the highest amount of asylum seekers, and the ratio of student visa holders who apply for asylum to those who don't show that the overwhelming majority of students don't apply for asylum.
