We are concerned that the Government may use global instability and the situation in Iran to justify a rise in UK military spending. Oil price volatility is already increasing the cost of everyday essentials, and further defence spending increases would add additional pressure to public finances. We are concerned that raising military spending could lead to cuts to public services, worsening the cost-of-living pressures already facing households. We believe the Government should prioritise domestic well-being.
