Review endometriosis treatment options and communication of these to patients

In my experience, endometriosis and the treatment available for it is not properly explained to patients. I want the government to fund a review of the two most common treatments, ablation and excision, and for options to be properly explained to patients prior to their surgery.

Before my endometriosis laparoscopy, I was not told about the success rate of ablation compared to excision. If I had have known this prior to my surgery, I would have chosen excision. One study suggested that endometriosis ablation success rates are 11%, compared to excision success rates standing at 28% to 48% across all symptoms. Another study found that ablation recurrence rate is 50% to 80% and the excision rate is 0.5% to 15%. We think with such a low rate, the government should review this treatment option.
